The Department of Business
At the heart of Bankoman SHS lies the Business Department, one of the school’s six academic pillars. The department plays a crucial role in preparing students not only for tertiary education but also for the world of work through the delivery of practical and theoretical knowledge.
The Business Department is structured to equip students with foundational and applied knowledge in accounting, management, commerce, finance, economics and entrepreneurship. Subjects offered include:
- Financial Accounting
- Business Management
- Cost Accounting
The subject combinations are designed to develop students’ analytical skills, ethical decision-making, and entrepreneurial mindsets. Emphasis is placed on practical learning through classroom simulations, student-managed projects, and interactions with industry professionals.
Success Story
The Business Department consistently contributes to the school’s strong academic results in WASSCE, for instance recording an impressive pass rate of over 89% in 2019, and ranking among the top 5 schools in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
Business students continue to perform exceptionally in financial accounting, cost accounting, economics, and business management subjects, often progressing to top business and economics programs at the tertiary level.
