The Home Economics Department
The department of Home Economics plays a vital role in the teaching and learning sector, focusing on equipping learners with essential life skills, practical knowledge, and problem-solving abilities.
Objectives
The objectives of the Home Economics department include the following:
- Like skills development: Teach student essential skills for independent living.
- Practical knowledge: Provide hands–on experience in areas like cooking, nutrition and household management.
- Critical thinking: Encourage students to think critically and make informed decision.
Curriculum
Bankoman Senior High School Home Economics curriculum covers subject areas such as:
- Food and Nutrition
- Clothing and Textiles
- Management in living
- General Knowledge in Arts (GKA)
- Biology
Since the inception of the school, that is 2012 to date, Bankoman Home Economics Department have been scoring 96%-100% in the WASSCE.
The teachers in the department are graduate teachers from highly reputable institutions.
They are hardworking teachers always working together for the betterment of the learners and the department as a whole.
